God's Love in Every Language
On her global(x) family journey to Guatemala to serve alongside the staff at the 410 Bridge, Michelle Shivers experienced something far deeper than a trip to Central America—she witnessed the heart of God at work through connection, humility, and the unshakable bond of shared humanity. As she recalls one powerful moment after another, Michelle reflects on what it meant to watch her children build friendships without borders and to see the gospel come to life in the most unexpected and beautiful ways. Here’s how she describes it:
“I saw God from the moment I met the 410 Bridge staff. The pride and integrity with which they run the program is astounding. When we entered the actual village of Rancho Viejo, and I saw my children seamlessly interact with children who speak a different language, live differently, and encounter circumstances we can never understand, I knew God was with us. There was no judgment, there were no walls to break down, there was no question of worthiness or ability—there were simply children of God being brothers and sisters. To me, there is no more beautiful picture of the gospel. I believe this next generation will change the world.”
Michelle’s experience reminds us that God’s work isn’t confined by language, culture, or circumstance. It’s found in the simple, authentic relationships that transcend barriers and reveal our true identity—as children of God. We’re hopeful that Michelle’s testimonial inspires all of us to love a little more, serve without holding back, and live with hearts wide open to God’s amazing grace.
