It's Back to School in El Salvador!
In El Salvador, January means the beginning of a new school year. Like many of us, the La Casa de mi Padre families struggled with the challenge of educating children using distance learning during the pandemic. But looking back, they can see how God used that hard time to push them to pursue other possibilities—and he provided! La Casa de mi Padre was able to begin an onsite education program in 2021, and it’s been one of the best decisions they’ve ever made.
Beginning a new school year for 19 children isn’t easy. It takes many people to organize all the purchases that need to be made, from supplies to books to uniforms. And, thankfully, our global(x) Back to School team was able to lend a helping hand. They arrived with supplies, helped the kids cover books in plastic to protect them from the elements, and celebrated the last week of summer vacation on the farm before the school year began. Lots of work, but lots of fun, too, and they all had a blast!
Education is one important way to break the destructive cycles that persist across generations. When a child receives an education, it changes their outlook, and they have the opportunity to pass that down to future generations. It’s an investment that opens the door to a new kind of life, and it can be a game changer for future families.
Thank you to this amazing global(x) team for their time, their willingness to serve, and their investment in these children. Andy Stanley said, “We never know what hangs in the balanceof the decisions we make.” We’re so glad this team decided to serve alongside La Casa de mi Padre.
